How to Get Checked Out – Quickly

by in Health September 18, 2018

I decided to include this on our site, because I feel it is extremely important for people to know that these services exist. It is well known that in the UK for example, you can wait for an appointment with a Doctor for days, sometimes weeks – and all that time, you are worried out of your life after finding an unusual lump, or blood in your wee – stuff like that. On top of that, many people initially won’t seek help, hoping that whatever it is will just go away. So, all in all, it could be more than a month before you actually get around to talking to someone about your problem or concern.

Then when you have seen your doctor they are likely to send you to the hospital for tests or scans, adding to the length of time you have to wait. If there is something not right, it simply means that the condition could get worse whilst you are being diagnosed. And, of course, you have to wait for the results along with trying to get a follow up appointment from your Doctor meaning further delays before anything is actually done. This whole process could take more than 3 months in total – and all this time you are becoming stressed out from worry, the internet is in meltdown from all your searching for clues to your symptoms, and the problem has merely got worse, requiring more urgent or stronger treatment.

Even worse – the problem is on record. No point going to get health insurance now, because you have declared a pre-existing condition. Conversely, if you have health insurance, your premiums will go up, even at a sniff of a problem, as your records are subject to scrutiny.

Is there a solution?

Read on to discover how to circumvent the time, get the answers you want, get diagnosed, and get treated!

It may be a solution, but it is an expensive one. I have been down this route because I could afford to. Not everyone has that sort of money lying around. For example, A friend of mine recently enquired about a new system of treating an enlarged prostate. Unfortunately, it is common in older men – actually 100% of males who live until their old age will suffer from it!

He was told that the appointment for the initial consultation would take 2 weeks to arrange and cost £200. Then, if the suggested treatment was suitable, an operation would be arranged in a further 2 – 4 weeks’ time, and would cost around £5000 So he could cut the waiting and worrying time in half, but at a huge cost. It was not an option for him at all.

In my opinion, for many people, there is a ‘DIY’ method available, which I will outline below. Yes, it costs some money, but it could reduce the time factor by 90%, and along with that, the stress factor. You can see a Doctor quickly, get diagnosed, and get any prescription the same day.  If you need blood tests, etc., you can get them done in around 4 or 5 days without even leaving the comfort of your home. The great thing is that it doesn’t matter if it is the weekend – they are online from 8am – 8pm. And you will be seen in minutes, rather than weeks.

So here we go:

You can now see a Doctor online these days, via video. There is an app for you to communicate with a qualified medical practitioner, and they can see the problem online, then they can prescribe any required medication, which is sent to the nearest pharmacy to you, for you to collect. How about that for same day service!

My suggestions go even further. Take my case as an example.

I am a busy person. I am also keen to monitor my PSA levels in my prostate (a half accurate test to see if you have possibly got cancer). Now to do this, I usually have to wait for a 6 monthly check up once I receive the letter from the Doctor. Then, I have to wait a week or more for the results.

Here’s another example. Let’s say you had unprotected sex

Instead of all of this messing about, queuing, waiting, travelling, I use a fabulous online testing service based in Ireland. Here’s how it works:

You ask for the test that you want – thyroid, cholesterol, liver, bowel cancer, diabetes, coeliac tests and so on. Basically, there is a test for most ailments or problems.

The test arrives the next day. Do the simple blood, urine, faeces test (it is all explained very well in the package) and send it back the same day. They receive it the next day, and within a few days, (usually a lot sooner) a qualified nurse will call you and discuss the results with you. Also they will send you the results via email for you to take to your doctor.

This is the SAME testing laboratory that is used by organisations. Very professional, very quick, and very efficient.

The last thing that I want to mention, which is good for people who are ill, and having regular medication. It is called Pharmacy2U and it is a wonderful service.

In a nutshell, you can get your repeat prescriptions delivered to your door, so you don’t have to leave home. It is a service by the NHS, and is a life saver, especially for the person’s carer. Saves them a lot of time and hassle.
